About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Obtaining a visa for travel to China for a U.S. citizen working in Budapest, Hungary for a week

I am attempting to get a visa for visiting Shanghai, China while I am on business in Budapest.
What is the best route to go for getting my visa for Shanghai while I am working for a week and a half in Budapest? Any thoughts? I tried the US Embassy for advice but they only take appointments and all appointments were filled. Is it safe to send my passport to China for approval? Will I get it back in time before I leave for the states? What is my best option here? Thank you ahead of time for any help!

Jeri, you can't send your passport to China for approval. It is possible for you to apply in Hungary. The process usually takes 4 working days, so you are recommended to arrange your schedule in Hungary.
