About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

New Zealand -> Shanghai -> Guangzhou -> Shanghai (only to fly home)

I’m a bit confused.
What is best we get for this trip please ☺️ Flying to Shanghai, staying for just over 48hrs, then to Guangzhou for 3 nights. Transit back to Shanghai to travel home (4hrs between flights. Does this suit for the 144 hr visa? We arrive at 8:15am on the first day. Thanks heaps.

You need a tourist visa for this trip as it's not a transit but a visit of China.

Thanks Thomas, can I apply for this in Shanghai or does it need to be prior?

You must have your visa before you depart. There’s no visa on arrival at Shanghai.
