Boarding cruise ship in Shanghai

Arriving by air from San Francisco, I will have a 42-hour stay in Shanghai at a hotel before boarding my cruise ship that will sail directly to Japan. I will return 8 days later to Shanghai and have another 27 hours at a hotel before my return flight to San Francisco Do I qualify for the TWOV?

Make sure flight to shanghai does not make a landing in Japan. Also be sure the flight home from Shanghai does not land in the same country as the cruise port prior to immediately prior to Shnaghai.
