About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flight from Shanghai to San Francisco

Hi, I have a question. If i fly into Shanghai (PVG) from thailand and get the 72hrs visa, to tourist around Shanghai, and on my way out from Shanghai, my flights departs from Shanghai (SHA), and layovers in Beijing to fly out to San Francisco california. Is that possible with the 72hr visa? Thank you

That is not possible without a visa. You can transit in Shanghai, or Beijing, but not both if you are staying longer than 24 hours in China.

Thanks for the prompt response. But in beijing I'm just doing layover. I'm trying to fly out from Shanghai and all flights layover in beijing. One last question. I'm currently in Saipan working, there is no embassy here for china to get the visa, can I do it once I get to Shanghai? Thanks for the prompt response . I truly appreciated

It doesn't matter if you don't leave the airport in Beijing, or even leave the aircraft. And there is no visa-on-arrival at Shanghai. You must either get a visa or change your flights. There are dozens of flights every week from Shanghai to San Francisco that do not stop in Beijing (either non-stop or via Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Canada, etc etc).
