Travel from Shenzhen to Hong Kong on 144h visa

Hi, I'd appreciate help figuring out whether I can travel from Shenzhen to Hong Kong on a 144h visa. So I would fly London-Shenzhen directly, then Shenzhen-Hong Kong and then Hong Kong-Amsterdam. Do I have to fly from Shenzhen to Hong Kong to be eligible for the 144h visa or can I also take a ferry?
Thank you very much!

You can take a ferry. However, you should keep in mind that you HAVE TO stay in Shenzhen or some other city within Guangdong province to be eligible for 144 hours visa free transit for at least 25 hours. Shortly, you can count 25 hours from the time of your scheduled landing in Shenzhen and after 25 hours you can book the first available ferry from Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal. You should visit CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport company website where you will book a ticket for exactly that ferry you will use to leave mainland China. Upon your booking, you will receive an e-confirmation with your name and passport number and you should print it out and have it with you in hard copy. You will convert this e-confirmation for a real ticket at Shekou port.
