Jacqueline, you didn't mention from where will you arrive to Shanghai. OK, I will assume that you will arrive from some third country different than mainland China and Indonesia. So, if your itinerary looks like this one:

X country (different than mainland China and Indonesia) - Shanghai - Indonesia

Then you are eligible for 24 hours visa free transit in Shanghai, assuming that you don't have any additional landing within mainland China. Keep in mind that you should use just one passport for your entire transit within China. Don't make a mistake by trying to use both of them! You should be consistent by using one passport only.

This is actually not a visa, but 24 hours visa free transit. So, you will travel without any kind of visa. All you need to have are your flight tickets in hard copy and also a confirmation for your accommodation booking in Shanghai. You will present that at the time of check-in in the country from where you will fly to Shanghai and also in Shanghai upon your landing at 24 hours visa free transit counter where you will apply for 24 hours free entry permit. The entire process is absolutely free. You will receive a sticker in your passport and be allowed to exit the airport.
