Visa requirements for cruise ship passengers.

We will be traveling by cruise ship from South Korea to Tianjin where the ship will stay for 3 days. We will be leaving the ship on the first day on a ship tour that overnights in Bejing. The next day we will be returning to the ship and staying on the ship until it leaves port. The ship then sails to Shanghai where our cruise ends. From the port we will be taking a ship tour of Shanghai that drops us off at the airport for our flight back to Canada. Do we need visa’s or do we qualify for the transit visas that can be obtained locally when leaving the ship? My wife and I are both Canadian citizens, thank you.
