About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling on 2 separate flights

Hi,

I fly to Beijing and have 80 hours there to visit my cousin before I then fly to Germany. The flights have been booked separately...Will this affect me getting 144 hours, as technically I am not in transit from the same flight? I have a British passport

Thanks is advance!
Sarah

Sarah, you didn't mention from where will you arrive in Beijing and this is such an important detail! So, I can just assume that you will use some third country (different from both mainland China and Germany) to arrive in Beijing. So, if your itinerary is like this:

X country (different than mainland China and Germany) - Beijing - Germany

You are eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in Beijing.

Your separate flights are just fine. I would say that more people travel by using separate tickets that through ticket option.
