144 Hour TWOV denied Entry with Turkish Stamp on US Passport

Hello... I heard in some posts that people who have visited Turkey are being denied entry In China when they apply for Transit Without Visa permit. We are going to Beijing for 4 days and the 4 days in Seoul. I’m getting a little nervous because my wife’s passport has an entry and exit Istanbul passport stamp for a 3-day stay in Istanbul for tourism. Have anyone in this group run into this situation before? Any recommendations on what we should do?

It's more than obvious that Chinese authorities periodically have some kind of actions where they systematically tend to show that having a Turkish stamp in the passport will be treated in different way than without it. Anyway, it's also true that there are literally hundreds of Turkish citizens arriving and traveling through China, some of them on 24 hours visa free transit on daily basis. Also, some airports have more strict approach to Turkish stamp, actually it is Beijing while others tend to be more tolerant. In reality, the largest majority of those having a Turkish stamp normally continue their travel plans after maybe a question or more than usual. So, if I were you I would be going according to my planned itinerary especially because your wife is not traveling alone, but with you and you don't have such a stamp. In reality, it would be rather inconvenient for Chinese side to deny you an entry as a couple because when they do such a thing as denying the entry, they do it when they find some, let's say, convenient solo traveler. Just proceed and have a couple of answers that are logical and benign.

I'm more than confident that you will write here that you were allowed to enter the country without any problems.

The only cases that happened in Beijing were on a 24h transit and no transit was denied but a temporary permit.

They won't let your wife stay 4 days at the airport.

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking the same. I’m also traveling with my two small kids, and just to think that they will hold all of us due to my wife’s passport with Turkish stamps seems a little too extreme.i hope everything goes well. I will update the group the outcome of our travel In November.
