About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

Extend X1 student visa by 1 month or change to tourist Visa

I currently have an X1 student visa that is valid until the 30th of July, but I want to travel in China until the end of August. Since my university does not offer courses for me to attend, I cannot extend my study period. Is there still a way to extend my visa or do I have to change it into a tourist visa, and if so, can I do that from within China? And how much would it cost?

Dear, you should go to the local Exit and Entry Administration to cancel the Temporary Residence Permit and apply for a 30-day tourist visa with zero entry to avoid problems. It usually costs CNY160.

Thank you so much for your response! But I forgot to clarify that I'll be travelling outside of China from mid July till mid August, so I don't think I can get a zero-entry tourist visa. Can I apply for a 30-day tourist visa with single entry before I leave China?
