About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizen flying SIN-PEK-SIN on separate ticket

I will have a DFW-SIN-DFW ticket and want to do PEK for 24 hours. Can I use the 24 or 72 hour TWOV since they will be separate tickets? I will have hotel confirmations for both SIN and PEK.

US Passport requires a visa to fly SIN-PEK-SIN as its not a transit. You need to continue to a third country before returning through Singapore.
