This is fairly easy process. You should arrive at LoWu / Luohu crossing by taking with you a valid passport and a passport size photo. During your application you will fill out a form that is quite simple, but keep in mind that the form has a question about the address in Shenzhen. You will insert the address of your accommodation.
To reach Lo Wu, you will take a MTR train - East Rail line from the center of Hong Kong to Lo Wu. This is Hong Kong crossing where you will declare that you plan to apply for Shenzhen VOA. After that you will have a very short walk to mainland Chinese crossing called Luohu. There you will apply for Shenzhen VOA and upon obtaining one, you will proceed toward the center of the city by Shenzhen metro. As you can see, very easy and straightforward.0
