Travelling to China via Macau

Hi,
I'm planning on going to china via Hong Kong. When applying for a visa, does it suffice to show a copy of the flight to hong kong?

Dear, you just need to provide the round trip flight tickets to and from China. The copy of the flight to Hong Kong is not required when applying for Chinese visa.

Ok, but I will take the train from hong kong to Shenzhen so I don't have a flight number for this.

In principle, train ticket is also available. Train ticket is only issued 30 days in advance, so you have a high possibility of not obtaining them when applying for visa.
