About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am Pakistani passport holder travelling from Australia to Pakistan

I am Pakistani passport holder travelling from Australia to Pakistan . I have almost 12 hours stay in Beijing going and coming back from Pakistan and i would like to go out explore the city. Do i need to apply for Visa G in advance and am i eligible to apply for transit visa at Chinese embassy located in Sydney Australia ??

Can Pakistani students in Australia apply for tourist visa or do they need to apply from Pakistan?

First of all you have to know that your itinerary is eligible for 24 hours visa free transit in Beijing. Anyway, to be allowed to exit the airport, you will have to apply for 24 hours free entry permit to be allowed to do that. The longer the layover, the better are the chances you will be allowed to exit the airport. Anyway, the problem is in the fact that entry permit is not the passenger's right, but it depends on immigration discretion. To be totally certain to be allowed to exit the airport, you will have to apply for transit (G) visa before your travel. By the way, it is highly questionable whether this visa really pays or not for such a relatively short time in Beijing!?

Yes, you are allowed to apply at CVASC - Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Sydney even as Pakistani citizen, but with valid residence in Australia.
