About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144- hour - am i eligible?

Hello. I need to fly from London to Shangai and then back to London 3 days later. My flight back though has a stop over in Bangkok so technically I am going to a third country. Am I eligible for a 144-hour visa in this case? Thanks

The stop over in Bangkok made your entire itinerary eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in Shanghai. Basically, this is the portion of your itinerary that interests Chinese authorities:

London - Shanghai - Bangkok

You should just take care that your flights to and from Shanghai don't have any additional landing(s) within mainland China!
