About:China Transit Visa

2 stopovers in mainland China

Hello, we are looking at an option for the following in China Eastern Airlines: Vancouver to Shanghai, (layover in Shanghai for ~6 hours), Shanghai to Kunming, (layover in Kunming for ~6 hours), Kunming to Kolkata, India. The return is pretty same within a month. We are Canadian Citizens. Do we need to apply for a transit visa before the journey or can get a 24 or 72 hour transit visa in Shanghai? The key point is that there are 2 stopovers in China.

Neel, if your total stay in mainland China is shorter than 24 hours, you can use 24h visa exemption transit; otherwise, you need to obtain transit visa.
