1 or 2 day trip to Dongguan from Hongkong

I'm in Hong Kong for vacations right now. Is there any way I can travel to Dongguan for up to 48 hours easily?

Not really. In reality you can obtain Chinese visa, but I assume that you don't find that option quite appealing. Of course, you know that Dongguan is off limits to Shenzhen VOA holder, so your only option is 144 hours visa free transit, although even this option is not an easy one. Here are the necessary steps:

- Take a flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and before your departure you will have to buy a ferry (catamaran) ticket from Shekou Shenzhen port to Macau provided by TurboJet operator.
- When you arrive in Guangzhou you will apply for 144 hours visa free transit. This scheme will allow you to stay for 6 days within Guangdong province including your visit to Dongguan. Please, just keep in mind that your stay within Guangdong province has to be longer than 24 hours for, at least, 1 hours.
- You will take a train or bus from Guangzhou to Dongguan and stay there.
- After Dongguan, you will take a train or bus to Shenzhen and take a metro to Shekou Shenzhen port from where you will take a ferry to Macau to satisfy the rule A to B to C country.
- Immediately you have arrived to Macau, you can take a ferry to Hong Kong.
