About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Not direct flight

From Sydney lands in Xiamen then Beijing. Can I take advantage of this visa to explore Beijing. Or does it have to be a direct flight.

It's not a Visa but a transit without Visa. Though multiple mainland China stops limits you to 24 hours total in China and you must be in transit to as third country.
