I really appreciate your reply and thank you very much for your guidance and help. I hope that I am assisted by China southern staff at the airport in this regard since I am an old lady and can get easily confused.

No, you don't need a visa in case that duration of your entire transit through China is less than 24 hours. Assuming that you will fly on CZ332, your scheduled arrival in China (Changsha) will be at 06:45 and your arrival in Guangzhou at 09:40. So, if I'm right, your flight to Kuala Lumpur should depart before 06:45 of the next day. If this is the case, you are covered by 24 hours visa free transit and you don't have to apply for any kind of visa. Just bring your flight tickets in hard copy.

You will be assisted by the staff, but you should definitely ask for that, starting from you check-in in Frankfurt, after that before the landing in Changsha and also just before your landing in Guangzhou. Just be a bit persistent in kind, but firm way.
