About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Brit travelling to Beijing

So I am flying to Beijing on the 2nd of June, arriving at 10:30AM, however my Exiting flight doesn’t leave until 14:30 on the 8th, which according to your page is 4 hours over the 144 hour rules of Beijing, considering Beijing is different to other regions and the 144 hours starts after the landing of the flight. Is this 4 hours a serious issue? Also can it be avoided by checking in much earlier or staying in the airport after landing?

It says on here that the 144 hours starts for Beijing on the time of the scheduled arrival flight?

144 hours starts the day after arrival (June 3). As long as your flight is scheduled to leave to the third country before 23:39 on the 8th then its within the 6 days (144 hours)

That was when Beijing was a 72 hour policy. It changed when it moved to the 144 policy.
This is how it appears in the official rules in TIMATIC

Passengers with a British passport with nationality "British Citizen" with a confirmed onward air, cruise or train ticket to a third country within 144 hours, starting from 00:01 on the day following the day of entry. They must:
- arrive at and depart from one of the following locations: Beijing (PEK), Tianjin (TSN), Shijiazhuang (SJW), Beijing West Railway Station, Tianjin International Cruise Home Port or Qinhuangdao Sea Port; and
- have documents required for the next destination.
