No, you don't need any kind of visa if your both layovers with the flight between them do not exceed 24 hours. It is easy to calculate and you should start from your first scheduled arrival in Shenzhen airport and until your scheduled departure from Chengdu. If the time between the two mentioned events do not exceed 24 hours, you are free to travel through mainland China on 24 hours visa free transit even if you have separate tickets and even if you have to collect your luggage every time and make completely new check-in.
Anyway, here we have two "small" problems. The first is the fact that there are no flights between Chengdu and Mexico, so you will still have to have additional layover somewhere. The second problem is in just 2 hours of layover between, obviously domestic flight from Shenzhen to Chengdu and international one from that same airport. I will tell you that you can manage to catch your onward flight only and definitely only if your flight from Shenzhen is on time.
