Connecting flight to US

Hi, my cousin and her daughter (9yo) is going to LAX via 2 stops in China.
Philippine passport

Manila- guangzhou - Beijing - los Angeles

What visa should they need? Their stop overs is less than 5hrs each.

They can enjoy visa free if their stay in mainland China for no more than 24 hours; otherwise, they need transit type.
