About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Re-entry with less than 6 months on passport.

Hello,

I was hoping somebody could advise me about a small issue I am concerned about.

I have been living in Shanghai since October 2018, and I have a residence permit valid until October 2019. My Current UK passport expires on 7th January 2020.

Now, I have a short holiday booked in July 2019, where I will travel to Beijing and then onto Seoul in South Korea before flying back into Shanghai.

When I fly back into Shanghai, my passport will only have 5 months before expiry.

My question is, will this be an issue? As I already have the residence permit. China usually requires 6 months left on a passport for entry.

As you have the residence permit, the situation you said will not be an issue.

A psssport is an internationally recognised travel document as a form of identification so if you are going to have almost 6 months to go before expiry, you are needed to renew your passport to ensure that your validity is 6 months or more.
