About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I want to take advantage of the visa exemption for Shanghai but not too sure if this qualifies.

I will fly from London to Hong Kong for 4 days. High speed train to Shanghai for less than 144 hours. I then want to fly back to Macau for 2 days. The aim then is to get back to HK for the return leg of the flight to London. Does this qualify ? Many thanks. Russell

That would qualify if you were taking a conventional (slow) train from Hong Kong (Hung Hom station) to Shanghai station. Taking a high speed train is not allowed for 144 hours visa free transit scheme. Be informed that your available (visa free transit) time in Shanghai starts the day after you have arrived by train in Shanghai, i.e. from 00:01 of the next day. The conventional train departs every other day from Hong Kong at 15:15 and arrives in Shanghai next day at 10:37.

Alternatively, you can fly from Hong Kong to Shanghai.
