Guangzhou 144 hour transit

Hi,
I am traveling to a trade show in Guangzhou. I am flying next week AKL-SIN-Guangzhou (stop for 4 days), Than Guangzhou-Seoul (stop for 4 days), then Seoul-SIN-AKL. Singapore is a transit for a few hours only. Does the stop in Guangzhou class as a transit or a stop? Need to know if I should apply for a visa or if I can get 144 hour free now. Thanks
