About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

San Francisco - Shanghai - Kunming - Kathmandu - Kunming - Shanghai - San Francisco (Australian)

Hi - I'm an Australian citizen and will be traveling from San Francisco - Kathmandu:
SFO-SHA (4.5hr layover)
SHA-KUN (14.5hr layover)
KUN-KAT (2 weeks in Kathmandu)
KAT-KUN (13.5hr layover)
KUN-SHA (23hr layover)

Can you please confirm whether I will be eligible for the 72 hour visa free transit program?

Two Chinese landings requires a visa if total time in china (layover + internal flights) is over 24 hours.
For the first layover scheduled arrival in Shanghai and scheduled departure from Kunming must be under 24 hours, sounds like you may be under. Now the return is over 24 so visa is needed.
