About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hours visa free Frankfurt - Shanghai - Zurich

I live between Zurich and Frankfurt and to both Airports only 2 hours drive.
Can I fly from Frankfurt - Shanghai - Zurich and make use of the 144 hours visa free entry?
A Chinese travel agency in Germany told me it will not be granted since it is just to trick in order to avoid the visa.
But according to the rules I travel into a third Country.

Your itinerary is definitely fine and the agency, of course, is trying to make some money of your possible visa application through them :). Please, just keep in mind that your flights have to be direct and without any other landings within mainland China with the exception of Shanghai. You should have your flights and accommodation booking in hard copy upon your arrival in Shanghai.
