About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Obtaining Visa & Cost

I'm a Canadian residing in Mexico. I'm visiting Hong Kong late Nov/early Dec and might want to day-trip or weekend in China, see as much as possible in my week there. I assume I need a visa but how do I get one from Guadalajara? And what is the cost?

Karen, if you fly from Hong Kong to a mainland China city and then head forward to a third country, you may use the 144-hour visa-free transit actually. It is available in Guangdong, Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Wuhan, Qingdao, Chengdu...but you can only select one from them. Considering your time and travel distance, I strongly advise you to go to Guangdong from Hong Kong and then you can take a tour in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, two very modern cities.
