Cruise tour visa requirements

I am participating in an organised cruise tour beginning in China.
I fly into Beijing in October and begin an 8 day land tour ending in Shanghai.
I then board a cruise ship which goes to Korea.
The ship then returns and stays in port in Beijing for three days. I will participate in guided tours each day from the ship.
The ship then travels on to Japan.
Will I need a multi entry visa for this holiday?

Russell, for your trip from Korea to Beijing and then to Japan, do you have any layover in other cities outside Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei? If not, you can enjoy the 144-hour visa-free transit this time. In this case, you just need to apply for a single entry visa.
