About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am transiting from Toronto to Kuala Lumpur via Shanghai and returning the same way

Can I see Shanghai for 2 days and Beijing for 2 days with free visa on arrival. I can take a bullet train from Shanghai and return back to Shanghai in less than 6 days and take my exit via Shanghai

You can't go to Beijing without a visa. 144 hours transit without visa (not a "free visa on arrival") allows transit in one region only, ie you can transit in Shanghai or Beijing, but not both.
