Can I apply for a student visa in china as a foreign passport holder

I am an upcoming exchange student studying in China. Can I apply for a different visa before entering China and apply for a student visa in China while I’m there? Thanks!

Emma, you can possibly apply for a tourist visa and then apply for a student visa after you enter China. However, I don't advise you to do so because it's not easy to get a long-term visa within China.
