About:Forbidden City

As a foreigner, can I buy tickets on site? If yes, where is the ticket office?

I have tried to order tickets online without success. Can I buy it on site? At the entrance Meridian gate or somewhere else? Do I need Tiananmen Square ticket in order to go to the ticket purchase place?

You can buy on site at the office at Meridian Gate but as it's super popular, there may be no ticket left when you are there. If you still want to buy in advance, try this: https://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/beijing/forbidden-city/tickets-booking.htm

If you don't go through Tiananmen Square to reach the Meridian Gate, there is no need to reserve a ticket for the square.
