Day Trip to Suzhou or Hangzhou with 24h Transit Visa

Hello,
I will have a 16-hour layover in Shanghai and can get the 24h Transit visa. With it can I go to Suzhou or Hangzhou for a day trip or can I only stay within the Shanghai area with the transit visa? Thanks!

Yes, you can to Suzhou or Hangzhou for a day trip because the 144-hour visa-free transit in Shanghai covers the surrounding cities like Hangzhou and Suzhou.

Ok, thank you. But since I have an only 16-hour layover, they will probably give me only a 24-h transit visa and not a 144-h one, right? Can I still go to those cities if I have a 24-h visa? Or can I ask for a 144-h one at the counter in Shanghai?
