About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Use Hong Kong and Macau as the third countries for my TWOV

Hi, I'm a US passport holder and want to fly from Hong Kong to Beijing for a few days (< 144 hours) in June, then fly to Macau. Stay in Macau for 1-2 days, then fly from there to Xian for 3 days, then fly back to Hong Kong. Can I use TWOV in this case?
