About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

2 entries (transit visa?)

I'm organising a holiday. I'm a UK citizen.

Is it possible to enter Shanghai for 2 days (72 hour transit visa), THEN, fly: from Shanghai to Cambodia, THEN from Cambodia to Hong Kong, THEN from Hong back to Shanghai again staying only 2 days (72 hour transit visa)?

My final exit would be a flight from Shanghai back to the UK, via Beijing.

This whole trip would be within a 2 week time frame.

Would that be possible?

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately not because your last leg has two consecutive stops in mainland China, i.e. Shanghai and Beijing. This is simply not allowed.

By the way, your first leg... UK - Shanghai - Cambodia is fine and you can enjoy 144 hours visa free transit...

But your second leg Cambodia - Hong Kong - Shanghai - Beijing - UK is simply impossible because you cannot connect two Chinese cities and you have done exactly that.

If I may suggest, do something different:

Retain the first leg, UK - Shanghai - Cambodia with longer stay in Shanghai, i.e. 144 hours visa free transit, but do a change for your second leg that should look like this:

Cambodia - Hong Kong - Beijing - UK. Take a longer stay in Beijing, i.e. 144 hours visa free transit and you are perfectly within the legal frames in both legs of your travel.
