About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

On cruise, will TWOV be sufficient or will I need full visa?

I have a UK Passport and am planning on going on a cruise which has 2 stops in China plus Hong Kong.On the final leg of the journey, we leave Japan and arrive in Tianjin on 17/3/20, next stop on 20/3/20 Shanghai and on 23/3/20 Hong Kong. Will I need a visa or can I use 24 hour TWOV?

Unfortunately, you will have to apply for a Chinese visa since you will have two port calls within mainland China and Shanghai is not the first one. To conclude, there is no any option to travel visa free in your particular case.

Just to explain... In case that a cruise ship is arriving first in Shanghai, then an option of so called Shanghai 15-day Visa-free Policy for Cruise opens. In this case, if the first port call in mainland China is Shanghai, the cruise group is allowed to visit several more mainland ports, but for up to 15 days and the group has to exit China by the same cruise ship.
