About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do we qualify for the free visa?

My best friend and I will travel to Korea from London and stopping in Beijing, we both have spanish nationality but a friend had said we need to get a visa and pay for it even if we only staying in the airport for 2 hours. And if so, so we have to apply for it somewhere or we just travel and we will get it in entry of the country?
