About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

China transit visa. Should I apply for a regular tourist visa or do I qualify for the transit visa.

I didn’t really pay attention when booking my flight but I just realized I might not qualify for the visa. Can some one help me out

Flying from Canada to Beijing ( but my flight has a 2 hour layover in Guangzhou) I won’t be leaving that airport because of the short layover.

Then from Beijing to Vietnam. Was planning on using the 144 hour transit visa in Beijing.

Thanks.

You will be applicable for the visa-free transit. You have to originate from outside of Mainland China and leave outside Mainland China. Your layover in Guangzhou counts as entering China. Apply for a regular tourist visa.

Correction: You will *NOT* be applicable for the transit-free visa.

How long do you stay in Beijing?
As long as you stay under 24h in China, you don't need a visa.
