About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi there, Baggage transfer

My boyfriend and I are flying through Shanghai to Prague and stopping there for 5 hours to get another flight. However, our baggage cannot be checked to our final destination. We need to collect in Shanghai and check them in again to Prague.
Do we need to pass through passport control to collect bags and check in again? If so, I as a Slovakian passport holder and my parent as a Colombian passport holder do we need any kind of visa to pass through this process?

You will probably have to pass through Chinese immigration and perform another check-in, but don't worry because of such circumstances. Both of you are eligible for 24 hours visa free travel and the Chinese authorities will not do anything else, but to allow you to make your transfer to another flight. Of course, you have to keep in mind that you have to arrive in Shanghai from a different country than Czechia and not from any other mainland Chinese city.

Also, have your tickets for your onward flight to Prague ready and in printed form to present them to the Chinese authorities.
