Canadian tourist in Hong Kong apply for China visa

I'm Canadian and will be visiting Hong Kong this July. While I'm in Hong Kong, can I apply for the visa to visit Guangzhou?

Generally, yes. However, not applying in Canada means you won't get a multiple-entry, multi-year visa for the same price.
