14hr Stay in Shenzhen - Transit Without Visa?

Hi, thanks for the post!
I have been reading contrasting information online about whether it's possible to transit without a visa at Shenzhen Airport for a few hours or not. Does anyone have up-to-date information on this?
We will be travelling from Bangkok to London through Shenzhen, as it is a 14hr layover I was looking at the option of staying at the hotel just adjacent to the terminal, do you know if this would be allowed or if we would have to remain airside? We're a British and an Italian nationals. Thanks so much!

The 24h twov is allowed in Shenzhen as long as your next destination after is not HK or Macau.

Whether the immigration will give you a temporary permit or not is up to the officer on duty.

A temporary permit would be facilitated by flying both flights by Shenzhen Airlines (having a through ticket) and also by advance booked hotel accommodation. My opinion is that your chances are quite fine if the mentioned prerequisites are satisfied. 14 hours of waiting at the airport is, mildly speaking, awful.
