About:China Visa Application in USA

I am going to apply for a 10 year Tourist (L) Visa with a US Passport valid for about 5 years.

Will the 10 year visa be issued on a passport that is valid only for 5 years?
Once the tourist l is granted, is there a deadline for the first entry to China? Specifically, can I be allowed an entry to China in October 2019 using a visa that is granted (valid) since June 2019?

It's possible for you to apply the L type with the 5-year passport. There is no deadline for the first entry to China after you get the 10-year L type.
