About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am a Canadian passport holder and I am traveling from Japan to Guangzhou for the Canton Fair.

Hello,

Am I eligible for the visa free stay if my intended stay is for 144 hours or less? Or do I need to have a third country on my itinerary?

There is no 144h twov in Guangdong currently. You are supposed to apply for a visa for the trip beforehand.

If you fly Japan - Guangzhou - Japan, you'll need a visa.
You have to fly to a third country after Guangzhou.
If you fly Japan - Guangzhou - 3rd country, you're fine for the 72h twov.
