About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Milan to Taipei via Dubai, few days in Taipei, then Shanghai Pudong Airport for a few days

And return to Milan again via Dubai but with a stop over in Dubai of 29 hours, so I would actually clear customs and spend a night there, with hotel reservation to show.
Does it qualify for the 144 hour visa free waiver ?

Taiwan is considered a third country for transit purposes. This is considered Taipei > PVG > Dubai so you can stay 144 hours in SH without a visa. You will be allowed to spend the time in the city, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces
