About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

When you state non stop flights does this just mean in China?

We are planning the following trip:

UK > Rome
Rome > Athens
Athens > Beijing - via Moscow
Beijing > New Delhi - via either Hong Kong/Singapore/KL
New Delhi > Jordan
Amman > Cairo
Cairo > UK

Would this trip qualify for the 144 hour visa or do i need to fly non stop in and out of the country, i assume that as i am not landing in another area of China on the way into or out of the country then it should be fine.

Thanks in advance

It means the airport immediately before and after Beijing must be in different countries

If you have two stops in China before you leave the country, you are limited to 24 hours transit without visa.

Thanks guys

The dilemma I have is that there is a cheaper flight from Beijing to New Delhi with China Eastern which involves a 5 hour connection in Shanghai. As part of the visa programme are you permitted to take such a connection within China?

As mentioned in an earlier answer to your question, if you have stop in Beijing and Shanghai you are limited to 24 hours transit without visa in China, and 144 hours is not permitted.

It means they only look at the following part: Moscow > Beijing > Hong Kong or Singapore or KL which is allowed on a UK Passport (Hong Kong is considered a third country from Mainland China). Once you get to the third country then you can go anywhere. What you cant do is Moscow > Beijing > Shanghai > Hong Kong for example since Beijing and Shanghai are considered two Chinese stops.

The other thing I need to clear up is can you fly

Uk>Italy>Greece>Beijing>uk

Some of my party do not wish to continue the trip onwards to India and would like to return to the UK after Beijing. Is this allowed on the visa waiver programme or do they need another country between China and the UK?

Yes, if the travel route is the above you mentioned, you are eligible for the 144 hours visa free policy in Beijing.
