Purchasing Urumqi to Almaty Bus Ticket

Greatly appreciate if anyone can advise if it's possible to purchase a bus ticket on the day of travel, or does one need to purchase it well in advance? From what I gather online, there is a daily bus that leaves at 7 pm, other than on Saturday. Thanks for any information.
