About:China Visa on Arrival

5-day VOA at Shenzhen airport

I am planning to fly from Bangkok to Shenzhen in mid-April to visit an international exhibition there, after which I will be returning to Bangkok again.

Is it possible to obtain a 5-day VOA at Shenzhen airport? I am a German citizen, holding a German passport.

Or do I need to go "the long route" through Hong Kong, apply for a 5-day VOA at the Lowu land border and then cross into Shenzhen?

You cannot obtain a 5-day VOA at Shenzhen airport. If you arrive in Shenzhen airport instead of VOA port, you cannot apply the VOA. Try to apply for a regular visa before your trip.

Thank you, Paula. That was very helpful. I'll travel through Hong Kong then. Just can't be bothered running that gauntlet that is China's visa application process just to visit an international exhibition in Shenzhen for two days.
