About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

41 Hours Layover. Thank you for the previous response.

However, we don't have much time to apply for the visa before our trip. Can we still travel? or is it possible that we can just stay inside Shanghai Airport or at least go out after 24 hrs. stay in the Airport so we will just have less than 24 hrs. outside the Airport. Thanks.

No. You won't get as far as Shanghai because you won't be allowed to board your flight to China.

You will need to contact the airline that cancelled your flight so they can give you flight with under 24 hour stop. Its 24 hours from scheduled arrival to scheduled departure, not how long you leave the airport.
