Rechecking luggage question: DXB - Shanghai Pudong Airport - YVG

Hi guys - have a question regarding the transit visa at PVG..
I am traveling DXB - PVG - YVG
Will have a layover at PVG - 5 hours but will need to recheck my luggage (China Eastern first flight - Air Canada second flight) - does 24hr visa allow me exit transit zone (read that it's only for the transit zone) and do the immigration-rechecking luggage..etc...or I need to apply for 72hrs visa?
Canadian passport holder..

Thanks

1. You need to consult your airlines. If the two airlines have luggage check through service, then you don't need to recheck the luggage from this international to international transfer.
2. In addition, you can leave the transit area as long as you apply for a stay permit when you arriving at the airport.
3. You don't need a visa. You can enjoy the visa free policy because your stopover is within 24 hours.
