72-hour transit in GZ

I want to fly Phnom Phen to GZ and stay 3 days then head onto Europe. I’m an Irish passport holder. Can I apply for transit g at GZ or do I need to do it at a Chinese visa center in Phnom Phen.

You don't need a visa if Guangzhou is your only stop in Mainland China. Also rule of thumb is you can't get a Chinese visa in most SE Asian countries without a long-term residence permit in that country (most data points are from Thailand and Malaysia but IIRC there are a few from Cambodia).
